Guide to Choosing the Ideal Menstrual Cup

Menstrual Cups are an economical, sustainable, and comfortable option for managing the menstrual cycle. Being a reusable and intimate product, selecting the perfect cup is key to maximizing its efficiency and comfort. Here we offer you a detailed overview of the characteristics to consider to make an informed decision.

Choosing the Right Size

Small Sizes: Perfect for young people or beginners with light flow. They ensure easy insertion and removal, ideal for those experiencing their first menstrual cup.

Medium Sizes: Recommended for most women who have not had vaginal births. They ideally combine capacity and comfort.

Large Sizes: Designed for women with heavy flow or who have given birth vaginally. They reduce the emptying frequency thanks to their greater capacity.

Types of Available Materials

Medical-Grade Silicone: A versatile material known for its durability and flexibility, as well as being hypoallergenic.

TPE (Thermoplastic Elastomers): Offers extra softness, making it an excellent choice if you're looking for more flexibility.

Latex: Notable for its elasticity, although it is not recommended for people with an allergy to this substance.

Levels of Firmness

Soft Consistency: Provides greater comfort and ease of use for beginners or people with sensitive pelvic muscles.

Medium Consistency: Balances flexibility and firmness, suitable for experienced users.

Firm Consistency: Recommended for women with firm pelvic muscles, facilitating opening inside the body.

Capacity of Each Menstrual Cup

Low Capacity (less than 20 ml): Ideal for light flows and young people seeking discretion.

Medium Capacity (20-25 ml): Adaptable to most women, allowing for an appropriate change routine.

High Capacity (more than 25 ml): Designed for intense days or to reduce the number of daily emptyings.

Variety in Stems

Short Stems: Offer discretion and are suitable for people with a short vaginal canal.

Long Stems: Facilitate extraction, useful for those starting to use menstrual cups.

Ball/Ring Shaped Stems: Improve grip and ergonomics when removing the cup.

Personalized Styles and Designs

Transparent Models: Allow you to see the content, facilitating cleaning. Ideal for those seeking simplicity.

Solid Color Models: Provide an aesthetic touch and obscure the content, perfect for those who value visual appearance.

Choosing a menstrual cup tailored to your personal needs will ensure comfort and effectiveness, enhancing your monthly experience.

Frequently asked questions about Menstrual Cups

How to choose the right size menstrual cup?

The choice of size depends on several factors such as age, whether you've had vaginal births, and the amount of menstrual flow. In general, small cups are for young women or those who have not given birth, while large ones are for those over 30 or who have had children. The IRISCUP ROSA, for example, offers two sizes, ideal for beginners looking for comfort and a perfect fit.

How to correctly insert a menstrual cup?

To insert the cup, wash your hands thoroughly, fold the cup into a 'C' or '7' shape, and gently insert it into the vagina. Make sure it fully unfolds inside, creating a seal. For easier handling, THE PINK SIDE is especially valued for its ease of use and fit.

How do you clean and sterilise a menstrual cup?

After each use, wash the cup with water and neutral soap. At the end of each cycle, it is important to sterilise it, which you can do by boiling it in water for 3 to 5 minutes or using a steriliser bag like the IRISANA, which is quick and safe.

What's the difference between menstrual cup models?

The main differences lie in size, shape, and materials. For example, some cups like the EVE CUP are made from 100% Platinum silicone, making them especially hypoallergenic and comfortable for sensitive skin. Others have specific designs for sports activities or heavy flow.

How long can you use a menstrual cup before changing it?

Most menstrual cups, like the IRISCUP BLANCA, can be used for up to 12 hours at a time. This depends on the intensity of the flow, but their capacity allows for comfort over extended periods.

How to know if a menstrual cup is properly inserted?

Is the menstrual cup safe for overnight use?

Yes, menstrual cups are safe to use overnight. They provide up to 12 hours of leak-free protection, as long as they are properly positioned. Models like the SATISFYER FEEL GOOD ensure comfort and safety during your sleeping hours.

Are menstrual cup materials hypoallergenic?

Many menstrual cups, like {FUN CUP}, are made of medical-grade silicone, a hypoallergenic material ideal for avoiding irritation and infections. Always ensure the cup is BPA-free and made from high-quality material.

Is the shipping package of the cups discreet?

Yes, in our store we ensure that the packaging is discreet, guaranteeing your privacy at all times, especially when purchasing such personal products as the INNOVACUP.
