Beginner ropes: Ropes made of nylon or polyester are perfect for starting out as they allow the rope to slide more easily, don't leave pronounced marks on the skin, and can be used comfortably. While it’s true that the knots might not be as elaborate, they offer a good option for practice and are easy to clean.
Size: If you are just starting with body knots, you can choose a shorter type of rope, around 10 metres, to avoid working with ropes that are too long.
Practice: Before practicing directly on the body, you can do so on a pillow.
Safety: Always have special rope scissors (nursing scissors) on hand, so you can cut the rope if any complications arise during practice.

Prohibited: You shouldn’t tie, knot, or pass the rope in certain areas of the body: neck, armpits, back of the knee and elbow (for safety, it's best to avoid the entire knee and elbow area), and diaphragm area.
