Insert in exhalation: The external sphincter muscles relax during exhalation. Starting the insertion of the plug while exhaling reduces resistance and the sensation of pressure.

Warm the sphincter beforehand: Before inserting the plug, gently apply circular motions around the anus with lubricant for 20-30 seconds to help relax the outer ring. This technique is recommended by pelvic floor physiotherapists.

Progressive sizing whenever possible: If it’s your first plug, using a smaller one for 2-3 minutes before switching to the definitive one reduces the likelihood of discomfort by more than 50%, according to progressive dilation studies.

Let the body ‘suck it in’: Instead of pushing, place the lubricated tip and wait a few seconds. The sphincter tends to absorb the plug reflexively. This avoids forcing and allows for a more comfortable entry.

Maximum recommended time: Recommended continuous use: 15-20 minutes if it’s the first time, extending progressively if there are no discomforts. Avoid numbness or loss of sensitivity.

Slow withdrawal: Remove the plug as slowly as it was inserted. Sudden withdrawal may generate an aggressive sensation in the internal sphincter.

Be cautious with the tactile silence of soft silicone: Some very soft silicone plugs can create a vacuum when removed. A slight twist and micro air entry prevent the suction sensation.

Check lubricant during use: Anal friction increases lubricant absorption. Reapplying every 5-10 minutes keeps the experience smooth and without tightness.

Basic contraindications: If the person has anal fissures, inflamed hemorrhoids, or persistent pain, it’s best to avoid use until resolved. This prevents negative experiences and unnecessary damage.
