What is the nominal width?
It's the width of the condom measured flat, without stretching, and is the figure that appears on the box. It's not the diameter of your penis: a condom of 56 mm doesn't mean you measure 56 mm in width.
Is length or girth more important?
The width. It's what decides if it feels snug or loose. The length is almost always extra, because the condom doesn't need to be unrolled all the way.
What if the condom is too small for me?
It feels tight, uncomfortable, and there's a higher risk of it breaking. If you notice it leaving marks or it's hard to unroll, try a larger nominal width.
What if it's too big for me?
It may slip out or stay inside when coming out, which is the most common issue. If it moves, go a couple of millimetres down from the nominal width.
Do I need to measure my penis when it's erect?
Yes. The measurement at rest isn't useful for choosing a size, because the condom is used when erect.
Where is the size shown on a condom box?
On the back, almost always in small print, like "nominal width" or "nominal breadth" followed by a number in millimetres.
